Oil sands pipeline twinning delayed up to 7 months

Kinder-Morgan’s plan to twin a major oil sands pipeline to the west coast could be facing a big delay.

The regulatory review for the expansion of the Trans Mountain pipeline through BC will be delayed by seven months, because the company’s picked a new route through Burnaby Mountain, in Metro Vancouver.

That means the company has to complete new feasibility studies.

The plan would triple the capacity of the existing line.

But the City of Burnaby is officially opposed to the project and doesn’t want to co operate with the study.

The National Energy Board says the company has until December 1st to submit the requested studies.
