Wildrose Party announces plans to crack down on crime

The Wildrose party says if it’s elected, it plans to crack down on crime.

The party’s legal affairs critic and Lac La Biche MLA Shayne Saskiw announced the proposed changes today, as the party prepares for an election between the end of this year and 2016.

The party is proposing to make a victim’s bill of rights, and increase GPS tracking for dangerous offenders.

It would also create dedicated checkstop teams to enforce drivers who are driving over the .08 blood alcohol limit.

However, the party would negate the law against drivers who are over the .05 limit, as it says enforcing it is unnecessary and a poor use of resources.

In other news from the legislature, Liberal MLA Kent Hehr has announced he’ll run for the federal nomination.

He’ll run for the Calgary-Centre riding, currently held by Conservative Joan Crockatt.
