Wood Buffalo RCMP have laid charges after a man died on Saturday after being hit by a car.
Around 2 am on Saturday, police were called to the scene just outside the 711 gas station at Franklin and Main.
The man was taken to an Edmonton hospital where he later died.
A witness helped police find the suspect, 28-year-old Gaetan Cartier from Fort McMurray.
He’s been charged with Failing to stop or remain at the scene of an accident involving an injured person, Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, and Criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
His first court appearance was earlier today.
