A domestic violence incident held up runners who were about the take off in the Fort McMurray Half Marathon on Sunday.
Wood Buffalo RCMP was called to a Gordon Avenue home at about 5:45 a.m. yesterday.
Police seized a gun from a man who allegedly assaulted his spouse.
RCMP secured the scene and blocked off roads before getting the man out of the house.
Charges are pending for assault and firearms counts.
The suspect is still in police custody.
