A new school in Eagle Ridge is hosting its official opening this week.
In September, Walter and Gladys Hill Public School opened in Eagle Ridge to more than 300 students. The elementary will celebrate this Friday with officials from the public school board and the province.
“The opening of the Walter and Gladys Hill Public School represents the first of six new schools announced in Fort McMurray by this government to meet the significant demand of our growing community,” states MLA Mike Allen. “Our children will have the opportunity to learn and grow in this state of the art facility with the latest in technology, designed to meet and adapt to our ever changing educational and community needs”
The event will also gather Councillor Phil Meagher, FMPSD Board Chair Jeff Thompson, Superintendent of Schools Doug Nicholls and Ken Hill, the son of the school’s namesakes – Walter and Gladys Hill.
