Firefighters grab groceries and quench blaze

RMWB Emergency Service Fire Truck

Talk about being in the right place at the right time.

Three members of the Fort McMurray Fire Department took a pumper truck to the Save-On-Foods downtown to pick up supplies for the station when a truck caught on fire in the parking lot.

“At about 11:40 A.M this morning we did get a call for a commercial vehicle that was on fire, upon the guys arrival there was a cube van that was on fire, mostly the cab area,” said Fort McMurray Fire Department Deputy Chief of Operations Brad Grainger.

The driver of the truck was not inside the cab at the time and left the truck running. Most of the damage was contained to the cab area of the truck, leaving the contents of the box mostly untouched.

Half of a tank of water was used in putting out the fire on the cube truck in just seven minutes.
