UPDATE: 7-year-old boy released from hospital after 'bullying incident'

Mounties aren’t going to pursue criminal charges after a boy was sent to hospital in what they’re calling a ‘bullying incident’.

Yesterday, initial police scanner reports said the 7-year-old had injuries to his genitals and was admitted to the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre.

“A couple of boys, 7-years-old involved, and there was an incident where one of them did get hurt. There were indications that there was some possible bullying going on,” says Cpl. George Cameron of the Wood Buffalo RCMP.

Police have closed the case on their end. They say parents have been notified and school officials are dealing with the incident.

“It’s more like roughhousing getting out of hand, I guess that’s the best way to describe it,” says Cpl. Cameron.

Police say the boy was released from hospital yesterday with minor injuries.
