UPDATE: Emergency crews respond to head-on crash on 63

Emergency crews rushed to the scene of a crash south of Fort McMurray.

Initial police scanner reports just before 10 a.m. said it was a head-on crash involving three vehicles. Listeners reported  both lanes are closed. Cpl. George Cameron said one person was reported to be trapped inside their vehicle and unable to open the door. He also says another person suffered injuries.

Regional Emergency Services later confirmed it was a two vehicle crash at kilometre marker 155. Deputy Chief Brad Grainger says the occupants were all able to get out of their vehicles and no one was trapped. He did confirm that one person was ‘significantly injured.’

Grainger says members just arrived on scene, and they’ll be transferring the person via ground ambulance.

Police say the crash is around kilometre marker 179, but Regional Emergency Services also reported a crash a multi-vehicle crash  at 10:30 a.m. at marker 155.

The crash was cleared at approximately 1:00 p.m. according to Alberta 511.
