Seniors are meeting with the developer that’s putting shovels in the ground at Willow Square.
Wood Buffalo Housing and Development Corporation is sitting down with members of the Golden Years Society this afternoon. Last November, the Alberta government announced it reached a deal to have the federal government transfer the land.
WBHDC is calling a proposed facility at the downtown site a “Community Campus” with the possibility of mixed housing.
But seniors aren’t pleased by those words, because they’ve been lobbying for years to have an Aging in Place facility built at the site.
Officials are also hosting a public engagement tonight from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Sawridge Inn.
