Busy weekend for Integrated Traffic Unit

The Wood Buffalo RCMP’s Integrated Traffic Unit  was out in full force this weekend (Mar.13-15, 2015) along Highway 63 and Highway 881 in the Fort McMurray area.

Seven impaired drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol under the criminal code.

Roadside suspensions were handed out to five drivers for drug and alcohol consumption.

Another five people were caught driving with a suspended license and had their vehicles seized for 30-60 days.

Seven more drivers had their vehicles impounded due to driving without insurance.

One driver was caught going 170 km/h just three kilometers south of Fort McMurray on Highway 63, another five people were caught going at least 50 km/h over the posted speed limit.

Four people were arrested on outstanding warrants, while two more were arrested for breaching the conditions of their release on a previous charge.

A 50-year old Fort McMurray man was caught with 14 grams of cocaine and charged under the criminal code with trafficking a controlled substance.
