Boyle RCMP warn public to stay off ice

Boyle RCMP is warning the public to stay off local lakes after a vehicle went through the ice on North Buck Lake on Mar. 13, 2015.

None of the occupants were injured.

RCMP responded to North Buck Lake where it was reported a vehicle went through the ice just off the shore.

The vehicle was trying to cross the lake while ice fishing in the area, when it fell through in an area with only a few feet of water.

The vehicle was only partially submerged allowing all the occupants to escape quickly without injury.

“Luckily none of the occupants were injured in this incident. The recovery process is expected to be quite costly for the vehicle owner,” said Boyle RCMP Constable, Matt Lapointe. “This event highlights how dangerous it is to venture out on the ice at this time of year.”

Appropriate government agencies have been contacted to monitor the situation as the recovery process begins.

If you witness a person or vehicle fall through the ice, please call emergency services via 911 immediately.
