The Wood Buffalo Food Bank Association (WBFB) announced today that Saipem Canada has funded its Snack Attack Program at Father R Perin School in Janvier.

The Snack Attack Program was originally created in partnership with the Fort McMurray Public School District to address the increasing need for snacks in local schools.

Expansion of the program to Janvier will allow students to receive nutritious snacks to help curb hunger, increase attention, retention and aid in development.

“We try to perceive it as a sustainability project of which is centered on these young minds. When I was growing up in the Phillippines, my family didn’t have very much wealth. There were days I went to school without breakfast and lunch which made it really difficult to focus on anything,” said Dr.Rico Alayon, Medical Practitioner Saipem Canada, in a press release.

Shortly after the program began teachers at the school reported that students are calmer and better equipped to do their work with the provision of the afternoon snack.
