Unity Day Program returns to McMurray

Unity Charity is returning to Fort McMurray.

In celebration of its fourth year working with the community it will be holding a free community showcase event on Saturday Mar.28, 2015 at the Suncor Energy Centre for the Performing Arts, featuring performances by UNITY Team members and local youth.

Throughout this month UNITY Day Programs is teaching youth in Janvier, Fort McMurray, Anzac, Fort McKay and Fort Chipewyan how to turn negative emotions into artistic expression.

The showcase will include performances by youth participants and educators who will address the issues and themes of social exclusion, bullying, victimization, and promoting diversity.

The program was founded by Michael Prosserman , it engages youth aged 10-18 by teaching positive sel-expression through beatboxing, breakdancing, and spoken word.

Since its founding, UNITY has reached over 100,000 youth across Canada.

Workshops are from 4:00-5:30 p.m. with performances beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Suncor Energy Centre for the Performing Arts.
