Council reading fly-in, fly-out policy

Hiring someone who would be flying in and out of Fort McMurray will be last resort, under a proposed RMWB policy.

Council will vote on the Long Distance Commuting Arrangement Policy at tomorrow’s meeting. It says the commuters will only be considered on a short term basis of up to four months. KPMG recommended a policy should be developed when it released its audit last year.

The audit said as of May 2014, there were three employees who had flight passes or paid travel costs. It recommended creating a policy that would track travel and living expenses.

The arrangement would only be for senior executives. The policy doesn’t apply to contractors or consultants.
