Mexican firefighters land in Northern Alberta

Alberta is looking all the way south for help fighting wildfires. A crew of 62 members arrived at the Edmonton International Airport last night.

Their forest fire season is over and now they’re joining the 1,700 firefighters working in Northern Alberta.

According to the province’s latest update, since April 1, 2015, more than 1,289 fires burned more than 370,000 hectares. A total of 1,196 fires were extinguished, including 84 over the past week.

The Fort McMurray Management area has had 126 wildfires to date.
