RCMP to run month-long impaired driving blitz

Don’t drink and drive. That’s the word from Wood RCMP who will be pairing up with their law-enforcement partners to conduct a special month-long enforcement blitz here in Fort McMurray to curb impaired driving.

It’s part of the Alberta Traffic Safety Initiative which will focus on Impaired Driving for the month of August across the entire province.

Last Saturday, three people were charged for impaired driving and another three drivers had their licenses suspended.

RCMP are asking drivers here in Wood Buffalo not to become part of these statistics.

They have also asked that anyone who suspects they see someone driving under the influence to maintain a safe distance. Then, when it is safe to do so, to pull over and record as much information about the suspect vehicle and driving patterns as possible, and call 911.

Wood Buffalo RCMP said they are reminding motorists that it is everyone’s responsibility to promote safe driving.
