Referral deadline for Santas Anonymous approaching

If you know someone who could use a helping hand to make Christmas a reality this year you can refer them up until Monday, December 7, to receive a Christmas hamper from Santas Anonymous.

The volunteers have said they need time to check in with the families referred to them and to make sure they provide what each family really needs for Christmas and to see them through a portion of the difficult winter months.

The program run by students and some teachers at Father Mercredi High School is asking people to refer those in need through their website.

Volunteers are also asking the community to help out with the final push to collect donations at a number of upcoming community events.

On Decemer 3 and 4 East Village Pub will host the annual Aecon Santas Anonymous fundraiser with a live and silent auction starting at 6 p.m.

Father Patrick Mercredi Community School will host a pancake breakfast in the school cafeteria December 10 from 7-8:30 a.m. for $10 per plate. The breakfast includes eggs, hash-browns, sausages, and pancakes. There will also be a photo-booth with Santa Claus.

All three Save on Foods locations in town will take part in the Miracle Marathon on the weekend of Dec. 11 and Dec. 12. Student volunteers will be on location accepting monetary, gift card and toy donations at all locations.

Donations can also be dropped off anytime at Father Patrick Mercredi Community School.

Santas Anonymous is in need of toys for children aged one to 17, gifts for babies or seniors as well as monetary donations and gift cards from local businesses.
