Santas Anonymous in dire need of donations

With a record number of referrals pouring in, Santas Anonymous needs the communities help more than ever this holiday season.

The campaign has received over 700 referrals this year, 200 more than ever before. Due to the large number, referrals are no longer being accepted.

Santas Anonymous Coordinator Jennifer Downey says the greatest concern at the moment is there are currently not enough funds to cover the grocery bill.

A list of items needed can be found on the website as well as more information on how you can donate. Cash, food and toy donations can be made online or at Father Mercredi School Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Approximately $90,000 is needed to cover the cost of food.

Organizers are hoping to receive lots of donations this Friday and Saturday during the Miracle Marathon. Stations to donate will be set up at all three of the Save on Foods locations around town.

Last year a record 565 hampers were packed and distributed  to families.

Father Mercredi Community High School staff and students have been organizing the Santas Anonymous campaign for Fort McMurray for over 30 years, helping families in need during the holiday’s.
