TORONTO – Award-winning short-story author Hugh Graham is one of five writers shortlisted for the Danuta Gleed Literary Award.

The Toronto-based Graham is being recognized for his collection “Last Words” (Exile Editions).

Fellow Torontonian Kevin Hardcastle was nominated for “Debris” (Biblioasis) and Peterborough, Ont.-based writer Andrew Forbes was honoured for “What You Need” (Invisible Publishing).

Rounding out the short list are Montreal-born Heather O’Neill for “Daydreams of Angels” (HarperCollins) and Fredericton-based Irish writer Gerard Beirne for “In a Time of Drought and Hunger” (Oberon Press).
