AHS closes temporary medical centre at Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre

As more healthcare services continue to come online in Fort McMurray, Alberta Health Services has closed the Fort McMurray Medical Centre at the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre.

“The temporary Fort McMurray Medical Centre provided important primary care and family medicine, as well as physician psychiatry services since mid-June, until regular services could return to normal operations,” noted AHS in a release.

Many local offices are now open, including the Wood Buffalo Primary Care Network. While most services are back online including the Well Child clinic, the Adult Immunization clinic, the Travel clinic, the Breast-feeding clinic, Healthy Beginnings, Communicable disease, Tuberculosis, Healthy Families and Health promotion.

The Northern Lights Regional Health Centre is once again offering full comprehensive health care services including ambulatory care.

Dialysis services returned on Jun.22, and long term care patients were brought back to the hospital starting Jun. 23.

The Fort McMurray Cancer Centre will begin a phased re-opening on Jul. 11, AHS expects to share more information on the process in the coming days.  For any questions call the Alberta Cancer Line at 1-888-432-8865.

Home care staff is back in their office space at the Thickwood Medical Centre. Clients are encouraged to notify staff of their return plans.
