Oil Barons sign new defenceman

The Oil Barons have signed a new defenceman to the team: 1999-born Jayden Pannu of Edmonton.

The 17-year-old played for the South Side Athletic Club Midget triple A team last season, earning 13 points in 32 games and served as an affiliate with the MOB last season with one goal in five regular season games.

“Last year, we had an opportunity to affilailte Jayden in a few games and watch his game progress with the South Side Athletics in Edmonton,” said Head Coach and General Manager Tom Keca. “Jayden provides a steady presence on the blue line and the ability to play in a number of game situations. As a coaching staff and organization, we always strive to recruit great players, but also tremendous kids off the ice. Jayden will be a welcomed addition to our hockey club this season.”

Pannu is the third player to commit to the team for the upcoming AJHL season. Last month, the MOB announced the signing of 1998-born forwards Liam Izyk and Nicholas Leeseberg.
