FMSPCA donates yard sale items to HFHWB to support residents in need

The Fort McMurray SPCA and Habitat for Humanity are teaming up to help community residents in need.

The SPCA has donated items that it collected for its annual yard sale to HFHWB. Those items will be made available at an upcoming ‘Pay What You Can Sale’ at the Casman Centre on Sat, Aug. 13, 2016 at the Casman Centre.

“The FMSCPA had collected thousands of household items including clothing, small appliances, furniture and other home goods throughout the month of April in anticipation of holding our large annual community yard sale to raise needed funding for our animal shelter,” said Tara Clarke, Executive Director of the FMSPCA in a press release. “With so many of our community members in need of support and our focus being on helping pets and pet owners returning home, we decided to donate those items to Habitat for Humanity Wood Buffalo who has plans to make them available and accessible to local residents.”

Any proceeds from the sale will be split between the two organizations. Items can be taken for free or for a small donation if those in need are able to spare the funds.

“We are excited about the opportunity to support the community and are very grateful for the donation of the yard sale items,” said Crystal Lewis-Wilton, Executive Director for HFHWB. “These goods will be made available at no cost or by donation fi they can. It’s one more way our organization can help provide a hand up to those in need.”

The SPCA will look to host a different fundraising event in October in lieu of its annual Community Yard Sale.
