Landfill now open 24/7 for commercial waste

The RMWB said the Regional Landfill is now operating 24/7 for commercial traffic, a move that approved by council to help residents meet the September 30 deadline for debris removal and for backfilling properties damaged beyond repair in the wildfire.

It took some time to ramp up to 24/7 operations because equipment had to be brought in and extra staff had to be hired and trained to meet the need.

To use the landfill, commercial haulers have to have a business license registered with the RMWB and have an active landfill account. They can open these accounts between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the landfill.

Residents can continue to bring their household waste to the landfill between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. seven days a week free of charge until the end of October.
