As promised, the RMWB has scheduled the first in what will be a series of weekly public information sessions on rebuilding and recovery efforts that will be held over the next two months. They will be held in partnership with the Wood Buffalo Recovery Committee (WBRC), subject matter experts, and various stakeholders.

The first will be an informal in-person session taking place next Thursday, August 18 at MacDonald Island Park from 4-8 p.m.

That meeting will be followed by an opportunity to speak directly with recovery committee members and RMWB staff at the YMM Home Show on August 20 at MacDonald Island Park from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The weekly public information sessions will support the WBRC’s commitment to developing more opportunities to inform residents about ongoing recovery efforts. Residents are encouraged to attend these information sessions for regular updates and ask questions related to recovery.

“We invite residents to join us at the public information sessions to express their priorities, concerns and to learn about the ongoing recovery efforts,” said Jeanette Bancarz, Chair, Wood Buffalo Recovery Committee. “This is a great opportunity for our residents to ask subject matter experts questions related to recovery and get insights on the work going into the rebuild process.”

The insights gathered from each engagement session will be posted online the following day at rmwb.ca/engage.

More sessions will be held in other locations around the region, the dates and times of which will be announced when they’ve been set.
