Brian Jean calls on Premier Notley to clear 'red tape' to allow rebuild in our community

Brian Jean is calling on Premier Notley to help Alberta Health and Alberta Health Services give the all clear for reconstruction in our community.

Jean, the MLA for Fort McMurray-Conklin says the Alberta Government has lost all sense of urgency and that has amounted in ten weeks of frustration for the residents of the hardest hit areas of Abasand, Beacon Hill and Waterways who are waiting to rebuild their lives.

“The Premier can start by ordering the health ministry and Alberta Health Services to re-purpose some of their hundreds of executives to assist the Chief Medical Officer in clearing any of the red tape the government is throwing in front of reconstruction. Before the end of this week, Alberta Health and Alberta Health Services should give reconstruction the ‘all clear.’  Nothing would be more helpful for the mental health of the residents of Fort McMurray than getting the rebuild underway quickly,” Said Jean in a press release earlier today.

The RMWB said earlier this month it is waiting only for the approval of the Chief Medical Officer of Health before allowing residents to re-occupy standing homes in Abasand and Beacon Hill.

More testing is still required in Waterways.
