The RMWB is seeking design proposals from Wood Buffalo residents for bus shelters that would showcase the region’s landscape and beauty. Selected designs will be installed in one of 10 large bus shelters in Fort McMurray.

“The Wood Buffalo Communities in Bloom Committee promotes a number of initiatives that support beautification, environmental sustainability, and more in our region. The Bus Shelter Wrap project is a very visible one that we’re pleased to see continuing,” said Elaine Martens, chairperson of the Communities in Bloom Committee. “Our general landscape is enhanced with artwork on the bus shelters for everyone — residents and visitors — to enjoy. The project also creates an opportunity to showcase local artistic talent — we look forward to a lot of applications.”

The Communities in Bloom Committee began the Bus Shelter Graphic Wrap Program in 2014 with the aim to increase local exposure of visual and public arts, enhance the beautification of our urban streetscapes, and deter vandalism of public property.

The application deadline is Sept. 21 at 4 p.m. The Bus Shelter Graphic Wrap project is open to residents of Wood Buffalo. Artists will be awarded $500 for each selected design.
