Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre closing December 17; sold to Summit GM

After three decades of fundraisers, conferences, weddings, and events in the community the Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre will close its doors on December 17th of this year following the sale of the building to Summit GM.

The sale was in the works before the wildfire.

Sawridge ownership said Summit GM is working with architects and the municipality to retain much of the design, look, and feel of the hotel lobby and conference centre to keep the original feel of the building alive – along with the history and memories.

Construction is slated to begin in 2017.

The Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre said it “was proud to host many of the region’s significant events, conferences, fundraisers, weddings and more. Sawridge and its employees have shown a deep dedication to the community over the years and are sincerely thankful for all the support received in return.”

According to the Sawridge, the new Summit GM will keep the main entrance of the Sawridge Inn and will donate the canopy entrance to the RMWB. To further the legacy of the building, Summit GM will be including a small restaurant within the dealership called The Sawridge Café for their customers and staff to enjoy.

This new location for Summit GM will have all the same services that are offered at their current location; including New and Pre-Owned vehicle sales, rentals, leasing, service, parts & accessories, state of the art automotive detailing and collision & paint repairs.

Sawridge has renewed its commitment to the Fort McMurray community with the addition of its newest hotel, Best Western Plus Sawridge Suites and Office Building located in the TaigaNova Eco Industrial Park, which opened in July 2015.
