Household hazardous waste drop-off Saturday in Thickwood

On Saturday the RMWB is hosting a free drop-off for residents to bring their houshold hazardous waste for special disposal.

The Household Hazardous Waste Roundup will be held September 10 and allows residents to safely dispose of hazardous material from their home without having to go all the way to the dump.

You can bring household quantities of hazardous waste to the landfill year-round, free of charge.

This Saturday, municipal crews will be on hand at the Evergreen Community Christian Reformed Church parking lot to collect the materials, also free of charge. The program allows you to dispose of these items in an environmentally friendly way.

Household hazardous waste contains chemicals that could be harmful to the environment if they aren’t disposed of properly, including:

  • cleaning products
  • paints, adhesives
  • solvents
  • gardening chemicals
  • automotive fluids
  • old electronics and batteries

A full list of common hazardous household waste that can be disposed of is available at rmwb.ca/hhw.
