Corb Lund to perform at community BBQ where new mural will be unveiled

Corb Lund will be performing this Saturday, September 10, at a free outdoor concert and BBQ in Borealis Park from 1-5 p.m. where the municipality will unveil its latest community mural on the Bob Lamb Bandstand.

The Grey Cup will also be on hand at the event and you’ll be able to take pictures with the trophy. The concert will also feature local acts Dan Gillies and Dan Tulk.

Murals like the one being unveiled Saturday help to reduce graffiti and other crime in the community. This is the fifth mural that is part of the Graffiti Abatement Mural Program in Fort McMurray.

The mural was created by artist Giuseppe Percivati, who was chosen by a selection panel after the Municipality issued a national call to artists.

“The Graffiti Abatement Mural is a great way to increase public art in the region while discouraging illegal graffiti activity,” said Alanna Bottrell, Community Strategies Coordinator. “This year’s mural is also intended to restore and revive the Bob Lamb Bandstand, and we encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the installation.”

The concert is free for everyone and will go on rain or shine.

If you’re interested in attending you can RSVP to indicate the number of people in your party online.
