This week by-law officers will be putting additional emphasis on enforcing on-street parking rules, specifically those governing the space you have to leave between your parked vehicle and the nearest stop or yield sign or cross walk.
They’re reminding all residents there must be 10 metres of space between your bumper and those intersections to give drivers enough visibility to see pedestrians and other vehicles.
You also have to leave 1.5 metres between your bumper and the nearest driveway.
You’re asked to please ensure that you leave enough distance when parking to allow for visibility of pedestrians and drivers and to keep our community safe.
By-law Services is also reminding residents that that smoking in bus shelters is not permitted. Bus shelters and all areas within 10 metres of a bus shelter are to be smoke free as they are designated public places.
