Canada Post is once again delivering mail in Abasand and Beacon Hill now that the communities have been reopened to some residents with standing homes in the areas.

A spokesperson from Canada Post said the deliveries resumed over the last week or so.

“They’ve been a welcome sight for residents of recently restricted neighbourhoods,” said Phil Legault with Canada Post.

He said mail that was held through the evacuation and restrictions is being released as it’s safe and secure to do so which means residents in the 439 homes within the green zone who were able to return home on August 31 should be checking for mail at home unless they’ve arranged for their mail to be delivered elsewhere.

Legault said that as restricted areas become available for delivery they will continue to release mail.
