Christmas arrives early in our community at “Christmas for Fort McMurray”

The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo has announced that Shell Place at MacDonald Island Park will be the distribution centre for the “Christmas for Fort McMurray” initiative.

The initiave was created by Helga and Terry Lempriere of High River, Alberta and was inspired by their own experience after the floods in High River and the donations they recieved.

Christmas for Fort McMurray is designed to donate Christmas decor to residents of our region who were most impacted by the wildfire that struck through our community.

These decorations will be delivered and distributed to the members of our community most in need thanks to a partnership with the RRC and the RMWB, the Lemprieres along with national, provincial and local sponsors.

Members of the Wood Buffalo community are invited to select Christmas décor from the donations at a temporary distribution centre located at MacDonald Island Park. The distribution schedule is as follows:

 

As donation quantities will be limited, all wishing to recieve decor will be asked to complete a short intake from to ensure the donations are recieved by those most in need in our region.
