NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Rocker Gregg Allman has cancelled or rescheduled his shows for the rest of 2016 and the beginning of 2017 after a vocal cord injury.

The 68-year-old musician said in a statement posted on his website Tuesday he’s taking several months off from touring so he can “focus on his health.”

The statement said he’s been on the road for 45 years, but “it’s time for me to take some real time off to heal.” He also cancelled shows earlier this year due to a serious health issue and was scheduled to play several days this month in New York City, but those dates have been rescheduled for next summer.

Allman has faced multiple health issues, including contracting hepatitis C and having a 2010 liver transplant.
