On November 8th, Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 881 just before 7 p.m.
The vehicle had driven off the road and was submerged in the water. The driver, a 52 year old female, was later pronounced dead.
Emergency services searched the area to confirm there were no other occupants.
Shortly before this collision, police had received a complaint of a hit and run, where the same vehicle was involved but did not stop driving.
The collision is still under investigation, and it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor.
