The province announced new funding Wednesday, aimed at advancing women’s equality and prosperity in Alberta.

Speaking at a women’s business conference at Telus Spark, Alberta’s Minister of Status of Women says first time funding of $500,000 in grant money will create opportunities for non-profits to pilot innovative ideas to help Alberta women reach their full potential.

Stephanie McLean says it’ll also help to expand the capacity of her department.

“By having organizations put together projects or concepts here that will help combat violence against women and girls, improve leadership outcomes for women, and also close the wage gap.”

Interested parties have one month to apply for these grants online at swgrants.alberta.ca.
