Santas Anonymous has extended their referral deadline to the end of the day on Monday, November 21st.

They are asking all families to consider the increased needs in our region before submitting a referral. Even with increased supports and assistance, they know they will not be in a position to provide hampers for all families in need.

Santas Anonymous will focus on families with the highest needs. These are families not in a financial position to provide a Christmas dinner or a present under the tree for each child during the upcoming Christmas holiday.

You can help make a difference for these families by donating to Santas Anonymous through CanadaHelps.org or at this Friday’s McMurray Oil Barons Home Game when they host their annual Teddy Bear Toss.

The Barons are hosting the Drayton Valley Thunder on Friday at 8 p.m. at the Casman Centre and when the MOB score their first goal of the game you’re invited to toss your new, unwrapped teddy bear onto the ice.

Bears will be for sale before the game at the rink from volunteers from Father Merc with varying sizes available for different values.

The teddy bears will be included in the hampers that are given to families in our community so they can ensure a Merry Christmas.

There are also ways to volunteer to get involved. Drivers will be needed to deliver the hampers on December 16 this year but the scheduling for those positions won’t be done until early December. If you’d like to get involved you have to have your own vehicle and you’re asked to work in pairs. In early December you can call 780-799-5725 and talk to Joanne to sign up.
