Donations from the Syncrude Food Drive.

Syncrude kicked off the Wood Buffalo Food Bank’s Corporate Challenge by doubling their donation from last year.

The company donated a record breaking $200,000 and challenged all other major corporations in our community to donate.

The goal for this year Corporate Challenge is $350,000.

“Our region has shown its resiliency in coming together during the wildfire and the continued recovery,” said Syncrude President and CEO Mark Ward. “Wood Buffalo Food Bank is an agency that’s really supported our community during that time and continues to play a vital role. By more than doubling our corporate donation for this year’s Corporate Challenge, we hope to help the Food Bank meet the increased demand on its essential service to our community.”

The one-day fundraiser encourages pledges and challenges from businesses, clubs, service groups and individuals.

The Corporate Challenge is a lead-in to the annual Syncrude Food Drive, which will be happening December 2-4th.

The WBFB is aiming to raise $75,000 and over 75,000 lbs of food to support the community.

Volunteers for the drive are still desperately needed to man the stations at grocery stores across the community, at Walmart, at the Anzac Grocery Store and at the Wood Buffalo Food Bank Warehouse.

If you want to volunteer, head to the online registry available here.
