Toys for Tickets helping families in need this Christmas

Turn your parking ticket into something special this holiday season through the new Toys for Tickets program.

If you get a ticket between now and December 15 you have the option of paying it with toys of equal or greater value than your ticket, which is usually valued at about $120.

“I’m thrilled that we’re bringing Toys for Tickets to our region — giving to children in need is a wonderful way to show the spirit of the holiday season,” said Mayor Melissa Blake. “While a parking violation is never enjoyable, this program is a great opportunity to make the most of the situation and give back to the community.”

All the donated toys will go to the Salvation Army which will distribute them in the community through their Adopt-A-Family program.

Toys are welcome from members of the public who have not received a parking ticket.

Toys must be new, in their original packaging and accompanied by the toy’s receipt. If the toy’s value is lower than the price of the ticket, gift cards and a validation slip will be accepted for the difference.

You have to bring your ticket, the toys, and your original receipt to the Timberlea RCMP detachment on December 16th or 19th in order to have your ticket declared paid.

The program applies to tickets issued for timed parking and Winter Maintenance Zones infractions.
