An Order granted by the Court on December 15th that councillor Colleen Tatum is allowed to remain on RMWB council.

This after she was found to be in arrears by $6,700 on her 2015 property taxes, which is technically a violation of the Municipal Government Act’s rules for eligibility.

Tatum said an ‘administrative’ error led to the unpaid portion of her taxes and she has since repaid every penny that was owed.

At the time the matter was first made public Tatum issued a statement saying she wouldn’t resign because it wasn’t in the best interest of the public to have to hold a costly by-election to fill her seat.

Council voted 8-1 to send the matter to the Court of Queen’s Bench.

The Municipality anticipates the Court of Queen’s Bench will issue a written order confirming that Councillor Tatum is allowed to remain on Council.
