The Fort Chipewyan Winter Road will open Monday December 19th at 8 a.m.
At this time the road will only be open to light traffic 5,000 kg or less.
High clearance 4×4 vehicles are recommended on the winter road. Motorists are advised to drive to conditions, obey all posted signage and watch for workers on the road.
There are no regular services like road patrol, gas stations or cell phone coverage so always be prepared for emergencies.
Crews continue to prepare the La Loche Winter Trail, though it is not open yet.
