Online wildfire rebuild permits now exempt from fees

Wildfire rebuild permits applied for online through the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo’s E-Permitting will now be exempt from fees.

The exempt fee button online is only for wildfire rebuild permits, regular permitting is not exempt and fees are still required.

Previously, there was no option to opt out of submitting fees online and home owners needed to submit a refund request.

Permits that have been issued and fees were paid, home owners are responsible to apply for a refund. For refund request form, contact the Municipality’s Planning & Development Department via e-mail permit.inquiries@rmwb.ca.

Residents are encouraged to confirm with their contractors that permit fees are not charged or quoted, and thus excluded from the cost of rebuilding.
