Calgary man facing charges in 2013 Fort McMurray homicide

A Calgary man is facing murder charges in connection to a 2013 homicide in Fort McMurray.

Police responded to a hotel room on March 24th of that year where they found the body of 28 year old Leslie Paul Laboucane.

An autopsy was done in Edmonton two days later which determined Laboucane’s death a homicide.

The Serious Crimes Unit of the Wood Buffalo RCMP Detachment, and the RCMP Major Crimes Unit based in Edmonton led the three year investigation which eventually resulted in the arrest of 27 year old Robert Kenneth Laing.

He was taken into custody on Friday in Calgary and has been charged with one count of second degree murder.

Kenneth will appear in Wood Buffalo Provincial court via CCTV on Monday.
