Women’s Basketball

The (8-8) Keyano Huskies women’s basketball team has had their fare share of ups and downs this season with the highest point being a victory against NAIT and the lowest, well all of January.

The Huskies come in to action this weekend losers of their last four matches.

All four losses in January so far have come against the top two teams in the ACAC’s North, but if you ask the Huskies, they would say they deserved better last weekend when they lost by a combined 11 points over their two losses against Concordia University.

Despite losing their past four games, the Huskies still possess the four seed in the North Division and are getting set to host the (7-7) University of Algonquin this weekend.

The Huskies and UAA have hooked up twice this year, with the Huskies winning both games by a combined 17 points.

Game-times this weekend for the Huskies and UAA are 6 p.m. on January 27 and 1 p.m. on the 28.

All the action can be seen live at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Center with free admission.

Men’s Basketball

To begin January, the Keyano Huskies (4-12) men’s basketball team played two of their best games of the season including an impressive 85-73 win back on January 14.

Since that, the Huskies have lost two in a row and have fallen to second last in the North Division.

Things do not get any easier for the Huskies this weekend as they get set to host UAA (7-7) at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Center.

If the Huskies have any hopes of post-season play, they will have to find a way to win both games this weekend and continue the winning ways the remainder of the regular season.

Tip-off for the Huskies men’s basketball team and UAA is January 27 at 8:00 p.m. and January 28 at 3:00 p.m.

Women’s Volleyball

The Keyano Huskies women’s volleyball team hits the road this weekend for a two-game set against the (2-14) UAA squad.

The Huskies (6-12) remain in fifth spot in the North Division, and if they want to make the playoffs, two wins this weekend will be paramount.

With just six games left in the regular season, the Huskies are eight points behind the Ooks for the fourth and final playoff spot in the North Division.

Danya Nieman is coming off a weekend in which she posted 25 kills in the Huskies 3-2 win over the Ooks lon January 20.

Game two also went to five games, but the Huskies fell.

Match one is set for January 27 at 6 p.m. followed by match two at 1 p.m. on January 28.

Men’s Volleyball

Despite losing their first game of the season, the (17-1) Keyano Huskies men’s volleyball team are playoff bound.

The NAIT Ooks came into the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Center last weekend and handed the Huskies their first defeat in a 3-1 win for the now (9-9) Ooks.

The Huskies remain one of the best teams in the nation and will also hit the road to take on the (7-9) UAA squad.

If the Huskies continue to win and find a way to finish in the top spot in the North Division, they will face the fourth ranked team in the South Division in the ACAC Championships.

Match one is set for January 27 at 8 p.m. followed by match two at 3 p.m. on January 28.

Like the ladies, you can catch the action on ACAC.TV.
