The Fort Chipewyan Aquatic Centre has officially opened.
It is located next to the Archie Simpson Area and houses a 25-metre pool, waterpark, waterslide, hot tub and sauna.
The official opening was January 31st, 2017 but it has been operational since November 23rd, 2016.
“The new Aquatic Centre offers important opportunities for youth in Fort Chipewyan,” said Councillor Julia Cardinal. “With the potential to develop swimming skill sets as well as train as certified life guards, this opens the door for future employment opportunities both within the community and beyond.
The Aquatic Centre is part of the Municipality’s Strategic Plan, specifically goal #7 for Building a Healthy and Active Lifestyle by connecting people and communities through leisure and wellness activities.
