The Fort Chipewyan Winter Road limit has increased to 45,000 kilograms.
Motorist should obey all posted signage and use caution when passing graders and water trucks on the road — maximum 30 km/h is advised.
Tree clearing is happening along the road from kilometre 0 to kilometre 31, and from kilometre 84 to kilometre 145 until mid-February of 2017.
High clearance 4×4 vehicles are recommended and the delta area has rough sections so people travelling should reduce speed and drive to conditions.
There are no regular services like road patrol, gas stations or cell phone coverage, so always be prepared for emergencies.
