With the warmer weather daytime load limit restrictions are in effect for the Fort Chipewyan Winter Road, La Loche Winter Trail and the Lac La Biche Winter Trail.

From 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. the load limits for the trails will be reduced to 5,000 kilograms. In the evening the limit on the trails will return to 10,000 kg.

The limit for the Fort Chipewyan Winter Road will also be reduced to 5,000 kilograms between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. and in the evening will return to 45,000 kg.

This safety precaution has been taken to maintain the integrity of the roads. Motorists are being advised to take caution as icy conditions are anticipated.

Repairs are underway at four sites on the Fort Chipewyan Winter Road with partial lane closures during select time to accommodate the work. Traffic will not be interrupted by this maintenance.

Obey all posted signage and use caution when passing graders and water trucks on the road – maximum 30 km/h is advised.

When travelling on the winter roads and trails you should be aware there are no regular services like road patrol, gas stations or cell phone coverage, so always be prepared for emergencies.
