Data paints a picture of Wood Buffalo regions art community

The Arts Council of Wood Buffalo (ACWB) is releasing detailed reports based on the Arts Impact Measurement (AIM) surveys completed over the past two years.

With the help of Hill Strategies Research Inc. (HSR), extensive research was completed in the Wood Buffalo region by collecting valuable data on the impact of the arts with regards to quality of life, participation and economics.

HSR was analyzing and preparing the final report when the wild fire and evacuation occurred in May 2016. In response to the disaster, ACWB and HSR developed a strategy to analyze the existing data in a complimentary report, Creative resilience in Wood Buffalo.

ACWB Interim Executive Director Diana Moser said that the data will aid the direction of the arts community in Wood Buffalo.

“There are several key findings from this project that speak to the needs of our artists, how the community views the arts, and how investment in the arts is integral to quality of life,” says Moser.

With lots of data and surveys coming out of the region as we recover from the wild fire Moser notes that this data will further illustrate what the community needs.

“ACWB looks forward to using the results to support and advocate for the arts community.”

Moser adds that the information in the reports can be used by artists and arts organizations to support their own activities, such as in grant applications.
