The (15-9) Keyano Huskies women’s basketball team is ready to compete in the 2017 ACAC Championships on March 2-4 and their quarterfinal matchup will be a tough one.

The Huskies who finished in the third spot in the North division, are getting set to take on (16-5) St. Mary’s University Lightning who finished in the second spot in the South division.

The Lightning scored the second-most points per game in the ACAC this year and converted on a very good 159 shots out of 528 from beyond the three-point line. The Lightning who returned a majority of their players from when they went (18-3) last year are led offensively by Montana Romeril.

“We have to defend the three, soak in the experience and have fun,” said Dwayne Vigilance, Head Coach of the Huskies. “This team is really young, we hope to have most of them back, so if they can soak it up, and come back with a great experience, whether we win or lose, I think that’s very important.

The Huskies have had their fair share of highs this season, the highest being when they beat the (23-1) NAIT Ooks 62-57 back on November 5.

“Any game you can win against any top team, for a young team like this is something to be proud of,” said Vigilance. “We were the only team to beat them in the North division so far this year, so I think the kids will look back at that game, and hopefully we can use some of the experiences to get past St. Marys.”

The Huskies and Lightning hit the court at 1:00 p.m. on March 2, in the quarterfinals of the 2017 ACAC Championships in Lethbridge.

You can watch the game live for just $5.00 dollars, or you can purchase a Championship pass which is good for the entire tournament for $10.00. You can also view the game via live statistics.
