The Fort McMurray Urban Market is returning for its fifth season in the community.

The 2017 season will begin on Wednesday, June 21 with a special Summer solstice market.

From 2 – 8 p.m. at the Jubilee Plaza the market will feature fresh produce, organic meats, homemade baked goods, freshly prepared food, handmade products and more.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to bring the community together and showcase some great businesses,” said Mayor Melissa Blake. “With live entertainment at Jubilee Plaza, this is sure to be a fun event for the whole family!”

The Urban Market is a registered Alberta Farmers Market, meaning that 80 per cent of vendors make, bake or grow their products in Alberta.

“This is a great opportunity for local producers, crafters, artists and small businesses to sell their goods,” said coordinator Arndis Arnold. “We look forward to bringing vendors and customers together in the heart of our community.”

The Fort McMurray Urban Market will run every other Wednesday throughout the summer until Wednesday, September 20.

There are also special Saturday markets this year on July 1, Aug. 12 and Sept. 9.
