Parents and day care providers anxiously awaited an announcement from the Alberta government Thursday, April 6, 2017.

The province declared which childcare centres will be taking part in a new, $25 per day, day care program.

Premier Rachel Notley was joined by Child Services Minister Danielle Larivee in Edmonton to announce the successful centres from across the province.

Amongst the 22 centres will be Anzac’s Willow Lake Tiny Tots Society.

In November, Notley confirmed the $10-million pilot project will provide 18 child care operations with up to $500,000 in grants from the government to take part.

Interested centres were required to apply to join the program.

The move follows an N-D-P campaign promise from 2015 to create broad-based 25-dollars-per-day child care, and an announcement made last week to expand a meal program in public schools.
